63387 at South Pelaw
Ex NER Class Q6 63387 blasts away from South Pelaw Junction on a coal train for Consett Steel Works. Note, these locomotives never had vacuum train brakes, only a steam brake and hand brake on the locomotive. The wooden pole lying on the buffer beam would be used to "pin down" some of the brake blocks on the coal wagons when descending steep inclines!
