A Freight Train in your Face
A long southbound CSX freight train rumbles through southwest
Washington, D.C. on its way to Virginia and points south.
It is about to cross over Maine Avenue and onto the Long Bridge,
which will carry the train across the Potomac River into Virginia.
Normally one would expect to see at least two large diesel-electric locomotives on the point of such
heavy freights, but CSX has started using distributed power for better control of long heavy consists,
and so the second locomotive this afternoon is at the middle of the train, controlled by radio from the
lead unit, in this instance, a 4,400 horsepower General Electric Evolution series ET44AH Tier-4 locomotive.

Splendid view, all the more in color! And, as also freights would show up here from time to time, a flat with a balcony in one of the buildings, high enough above the trees would be great!
Have a fine sunday!
