Astoria-bound N Train Approaches Queensboro Plaza Station
It’s a summer afternoon in 2017 in Long Island City, Queens as an Astoria-
bound N Train of R-160 railcars approaches Queensboro Plaza Station.
This busy station is of particular interest to rail-fans, as it brings together, on the same platforms, trains
from the New York City Subway system’s A-Division - the IRT No. 7 Flushing Line – and B-Division – the BMT N
and W lines, thus providing the opportunity to see, side by side, two distinctly different profiles of trains.
Here, on the upper level, the Astoria-bound N and W trains stop on the north side of the platform,
while the Flushing/Main Street-bound 7 Trains stop on the south track (*). Down below, on the lower
level of this elevated complex, the platform is shared by Manhattan-bound N and W trains on the
north track and 7 trains across the platform.
