Blackwood River Walk, Bridgetown

The Bridgetown River, near Bridgetown, is lined with resilient river gum trees. In the central tree's knot, white cockatoos find shelter. At night, the creek becomes a haven for kangaroos and other marsupials. Water is as precious as the air we breathe in our land. Despite years of droughts and floods, life persists wherever there is opportunity.

This trail starts at the Blackwood River Park and is straightforward as it follows the river. You can do a 6km return, or up to 8km if you include Bridgetown streets. It is a stunningly beautiful walk, especially during winter and spring when the countryside is at its lush green best and the river is flowing strongly
