Dream Dancing...

…or is it the Dance of the Ghostly Commuters?

Sometimes when I’m shooting … often, while I’m editing late at night … music will insinuate
its way into the process. And sometimes, the tunes will even compete for attention ;-)

At first, these ghostly commuters evoked that great recording of Mel Torme and
George Shearing making their gossamer magic with Cole Porter’s “Dream Dancing.”

But then, the symphony orchestra and the nat-sound began fighting to be heard ;-)

So, imagine in your mind’s ear, the powerful grumble of idling multiple-unit diesel trains here in the
East Midlands terminal at London’s St Pancras International…but mix in Saint-Saens’ “Dance Macabre,”
as a non-stop stream of “spectral” commuters whoosh by on the way to boarding their homeward bound trains.

Are they heading to a romantic rendezvous? A solitary dinner with the cat?
Are they moving at big-city frenetic pace, or perhaps continuing the mind-numbing
dream-dash that began when they arrived at this very spot this morning?

Note to music lovers: Couldn't find a link to Mel and George doing "Dream Dancing," but it led to a
wonderful discovery - Monica Ramey! Please enjoy her recording of "Dream Dancing" with Beegie Adair's trio,
