Hold Me Tight

I guess that photo was quite badly taken from a technical point of view. The first time I tried to enhance the colours afterwards, as they were rather pale in the original, unfortunately. I struggled for a long time, but what you see is the best I could get without loosing my nerves :-)

On the other hand, the picture was not interesting enough in BW - the rope is too similar in tone with the blue floor...

The hard thing is the sunlight coming from the front, so especially the white areas inside are much too bright and a bit blue-ish. I like the reflection on the floor though, as the rivets stand out there, adding some "texture".

What do you think about adding the border?

First of all, you did a great job with this picture! It's a good composition with the right crop. Also the exposition works for me.
Though it would have been nice to have a shallower depth of field I understand that you don't have the equipment for controling that.
The colors work quite fine in this pic, making fine contrasts. Your struggles where rewarded with success! :)
But don't say that it is not interesting enough for BW! There are several different possibilities for BW-conversion, I often feel that you have most control by using the "channel mixer" in Photoshop (though this off course is dependend on the software you are using).
One word in general: You will notice that it can be (especially when you are new) difficult to get comments. By asking your questions here you make clear that you really are interested in getting feedback, that's good! Seeing your first pictures here I'm pretty sure that you are allready infected by the photograpy-virus, and I'm sure you will find inspiration here! :)
And coming from Sweden, also this festival here might be interesting for you: http://www.fotocommunity.com/info/Nordic_Light (http://www.nle.no)
