Albania
Argyrokastro
Albania's territory ,as herself being "The Apple of Dispute" between adversaries, has repeatedly been a battlefield of devastating wars. In the second world war, Italy as an ally to Germany invaded the country and reaching the Greek borders threatened Greece with invasion. Greeks counterattacked and pushing Italians back, invaded in turn themselves Albania consolidating positions in central and south parts of the country.
After the end of the war the borders of Albania were readjusted to present limits and the country "positioned" to the Eastern Block was quickly transformed into a "sealed"and isolated society- apart from a certain period of Chinese support- rapidly declining close to nothingness till 1989 when again became a liberated and open country.
Argyrokastro is a big village near the greek borders with still many greek speaking inhabitants.
