Les Coves de la Torre - The Tower Caves
Paterna - País Valencià - Spain
The Caves of Paterna. A type of housing dug out in soils less compact taking advantage of the differences in topography of the rocky hill on which the town is located. This type of housing was introduced in the Valencian Country by the time of the arabic domination, but it was not until the economic crisis of the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries that were built in Paterna. Over time there has been a huge decline in the number of caves, from 2.420 in 1940 up to only 106 today, which are divided into six different neighborhoods: Coves del Palau, la Torre, Alborgí, Batà, la Mina i carrer de Godella.
