Opernplatz - No.2
The current needs for social distancing, etc. may have reduced opportunities for new photography,
but this new reality will not succeed in dimming my enthusiasm for the enjoyment of photography, for
there are so many inviting memories lurking in photos not yet edited/published.
My recently posted photograph "The Good Life," (*) taken on a sunny winter afternoon in 2008,
led to discovering scenes captured nearby in Frankfurt's Opernplatz, the attractive plaza in front of
the Alte Oper. That fine old hall, all but destroyed by Allied bombing in WW2, slowly rebuilt in the 1970s,
is no longer used for opera, but instead serves as a venue for other forms of musical entertainment.
I love these old kiosks! This one included posters for popular Norwegian singer/actress Wencke Myhre and
pianist Joja Wendt, as well as for upcoming big band and jazz attractions at the Alte Oper, just across the way.
This little "musical time capsule" from a stunningly sunny winter's day in 2008 makes its first appearance here.
