Ornamental Kale

Ornamental Kale is a vegetable with green and red/purple leaves. It is native to China and considered to be very close to wild cabbage.
The plant looks more like a flower than a cabbage head.

This variety is grown mainly for its ornamental leaves in the interior of the rosette, but although often thought otherwise, ornamental kale is edible.

Dutch name : Splijtkool (ook Oude Wijvenkool genaamd)
German name : Zierkohl
Latin name : Brassica oleracea var. Acephala
