Screeeeeeeech!
This Manhattan-bound D train on the New York City Subway system has just emerged from a tunnel
into the daylight of a December afternoon here in the 38th St cut by Fourth Avenue in Brooklyn.
But the sunlight reflecting off the shiny flanks of the 8-car consist of R68 railcars will be but a brief interlude as the front of the train (photo-left) is already entering the portal that will lead it into the 36th St Station on the BMT Fourth Avenue Line, as it transitions from the West End Line on which it has run from the start of its journey in Coney Island (*).
The effect of the tight curvature in the cut on the R68s' wheel flanges inspires the onomatopoeic title ;-)

A fine shot from this D Train...I remember the slow speed and the Screeeech. Black & White is a good choice by the contrasts of this scene.Regards HG
