The Fungi World (312) : Magpie Inkcap
The magpie inkcap is a striking shaped fungus with an unpleasant smell that appears usually in beech forests.
A rare species !
The white spots on its beautiful black cap are the remainders of a veil when it was very young.
Dutch name : Spechtinktzwam
German name : Spechttintling (auch Elsterntintling genannt)
Latin name : Coprinus picaceus

Our Magpies are rather shy,and fly away if you get too close.
Greetings - A.
That they also exit as mushrooms is amazing.
