The Fungi World (313) : Pearly Webcap

The pearly webcap is a pretty rare fungus that can be found from summer until autumn, mainly in beech woods but also occasionally under conifers.

With its pale lilac colour, it’s a quite attractive appearance in the forest, but this fungus contains a toxin that destroys human kidneys and liver when eaten.

Indicated as ‘endangered’ on the Red List of vulnerable and threatened species !

Dutch name : Lila gordijnzwam
German name : Weissvioletter Dickfuss
Latin name : Cortinarius alboviolaceus
