7Scape No. 4
A blazing hot summer afternoon in New York, and as ominous storm clouds build to the west, a strong shaft of sunlight pierces through the overcast, looking like a great celestial laser beam as it hits this outbound rush hour No.7 Express and deflects to the third rail of the adjacent local track. I did not hear a great celestial THWACK as it did, no shower of sparks, no acrid welding arc smell…and it wasn’t long before an outbound local appeared on its approach to the Rawson St/33rd St station in Long Island City, Queens, on its way to Flushing.
Proof it takes more than a celestial laser beam to stop a 7 Train ;-)
“7Scapes” follows the long trains of the IRT No. 7 Flushing Line as they call at stations
from Hudson Yards to Grand Central and on to destinations in Queens.
Images are available in archival gallery prints and as custom printed Photo Note Cards.
