Along the Old Main - No. 8
One of a series of photographs taken along the historic Old Main Line, built by the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad (now CSX) through the craggy Patapsco River Valley from Relay, just outside Baltimore, to Point of Rocks, Maryland.
Here, the two heavy GE diesel electric locomotives on the point of this westbound CSX freight notch up and dig in as the train negotiates the curve at Point of Rocks, on its way to join the high speed mainline from Washington toward Brunswick, Harper's Ferry, and points west.
The moment was captured on an autumn afternoon, on FomaPan
Classic-100 film through the Nikkor AI-s 80-200mm f/4 lens on my Nikon FM.
