Class + Power

She may have snorted derisively to herself as she coupled onto the ho-hum consist of Amtrak coaches,
for she could still remember the glory days of the Pennsylvania Railroad, pulling twenty-car trains of
heavyweight Pullmans, dining cars, and coaches and blazing down the mainline at 100+ miles per hour.

But, heck, “a train’s a train” these days, and her loyal fans await her with
loaded cameras and ear-to-ear grins of anticipation. She’ll not let them down…

With retirement looming before her, this mighty GG1 electric locomotive, Number 4935, one of the last
of her breed, proudly wearing her original pin-striped PRR livery, makes a powerful statement as she blasts
along the Harrisburg to Philadelphia mainline at Leaman Place, Pennsylvania on a fan trip in autumn 1978.

An icon forever, she’ll not be forgotten.
