Newark-bound PATH Train Climbs Ramp to Dock Bridge

A Newark-bound PATH (Port Authority Trans-Hudson) train of Kawasaki PA-5 railcars climbs the ramp
from the Harrison PATH station to the massive Dock Bridge in late afternoon on a wintry December day.

The Dock Bridge is actually a pair of vertical-lift bridges over the Passaic River which carry Amtrak, NJ Transit,
and PATH trains from Newark’s Penn Station to destinations in northern New Jersey and into Manhattan.

The tracks below the PATH ramp are for Amtrak and NJT trains.

The red brick building the PATH train is passing is Dock Tower,
which until recently controlled traffic on this portion of the railroad.
