Summer in Washington - A Serene Spot in NoMa
Exploring northeast Washington’s revitalized NoMa (North of Massachusetts Avenue) district
on a recent (and rare this summer) sunny, low humidity late afternoon, I came upon this serene setting...
The pillars and fence belong to the grounds of 131 M St NE (a.k.a NoMa Station), the former warehouse building of
the Woodward and Lothrop department stores, since re-purposed to provide office space for government agencies.
The black and white treatment is from a Fujicolor Reala-100 negative, shot in a Contax RTS II through the Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar 28-85mm f/3.3-4 lens. The late afternoon colors were inviting (and I will show you those one day), but somehow the textures and patterns in the late afternoon sun were summoning up my black and white sensibilities.
