Was gibt's, Junge?

As the snow swirls in eastern Germany’s Erzgebirge region on this February day along the Preßnitztalbahn narrow gauge railway,
that’s what the veteran East German designed steam locomotive seemed to be saying to the perky little diesel shunter on the next track.

The Preßnitztalbahn operates on 750 mm gauge track as it connects the termini of Jöhstadt
and Steinbach along the Wildbach through dark pine forests with both goods and passenger trains.

On my first visit to the Preßnitztalbahn in February 2008, with my guide and fellow train photog
Tom Reitzel, my long-held wishes for shooting steam trains in the snow were nicely realized.

This image is part of a “Steam in the Snow” series of gallery prints and custom printed photo note cards depicting the trains
of the Preßnitztalbahn and Fichtelbergbahn, both of which operate in the Erzgebirge region of Germany, close by the Czech border

So nice to be able - finally - to return to and share some of my Erzgebirge images after so many years.
(Here's to retirement!)

In the words of Arnold S, “I’ll be back!” ;-)
