Wat Xieng Thong Sim

The first sightseeing point for every visitor comming to Luang Prabang is this archaic appearing temple building which was buit in the 1559 on the banks of the Mekong river.
It is one of the few temples that was not destroyed during the Black Flag Army invasion of 1887.
One of Laos’ most beautiful and richly decorated temples.
The elegant low sweeping roofs are topped by a seventeen element dok so fa, symbolic of royal patronage, reaching toward the heavens.
The whole temple area is one of the most important of Lao monasteries and remains a significant monument to the spirit of religion, royalty and traditional style of a fascinating city.
