Your face would be smudgy, too!
Looking like some plucky street urchin out of Dickens, Peter Smudgeworthy (as I called him) seems to
be imploring some passing toff for a bowl of gruel…oh, yes, and a good long scrubbin’ wiv a soapy brush.
Peter is actually a merman – one of several, some of whom had already
had their go with the scrubbing brush – who tirelessly hold up the large
“bowl” of the Tazza Fountain at the head of the Long Water at the Italian
Gardens in London’s Kensington Gardens.
Yes, I shot them, too, but I just didn't think the scrubbed-up mermen had quite the same character ;-)
