Boundary Channel - No. 1
Boundary Channel runs along the west side of Columbia Island which, while it lies across the broad expanse of the Potomac from such Washington landmarks as the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial, is part of the District of Columbia. The west side of Boundary Channel actually marks the boundary between DC and Virginia.
The island is home to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Memorial Grove and other parkland,
as well as the Columbia Island Marina, allowing marine access to the Potomac.
Various waterfowl, including herons, call the peaceful Boundary Channel home. On this late day visit
in mid-September, I would see one heron; but upon arriving, as I walked across the footbridge from the
Virginia side to the island, these paddlers and their reflections in the calm water provided an inviting motif.
The image is available in custom printed note cards and in large silver gelatin gallery prints.
