On a Snowy Night in Central Park

Lots of springtime pastels to contemplate shooting as the season unfolds...

But please indulge me a happy memory of winter as that season departs,
from a fondly remembered twilight-through-night in New York's Central Park.

It was an early season snowfall, and just the perfect kind for the Blaue Stunde (*)-into-night shooting I'd longed to do in Central Park, with those big wet flakes that coat the trees and turn the Park into one magical vista after the next.

So, back into my photos from that December night in 2017 for one I've not yet shared.

Mlle. Printemps, your pastels can wait, I trust, for another day, when I promise I shall catch up with you ;-)

      Hi Steve,

Unfortunately, I'll not be back in New York this Christmas season, and I'm now planning for December 2023 or 2024.

And so, unfortunately we have to postpone our joint photo tour by 1 or 2 years.

I hope you're fine and I'm sending Christmas greetings from Germany - take care.

      Ronald :)

Hi, Ronald, and thank you for your quick reply.
Sorry you won't be able to make it to NYC this year, but I will certainly look forward to meeting and shooting with you whenever you can make the trip.
Meantime, wishing you and yours a lovely Christmas Season.
      Steve

      Good morning Steve,

Thank you for your invitation to a joint photo tour through New York at Christmas.
Unfortunately it shouldn't be this year.
And so I'll be watching the live video stream from the Christmas tree on the Rockefeller Cent website and dreaming a little bit of Christmas in the city that never sleeps.

Have a wonderful and hopefully snowy Christmas time.

      Ronald :)

Good morning, Ronald, and thank you for the good wishes - especially for the snowy part!
I couldn't believe my good fortune on that 2017 visit in finding not only snow so early in the season, but the beautiful wet kind with the large flakes that coat the trees so magically and to explore Central Park while it was actually coming down, from Blaue Stunde into the night. Those snowscapes remain some of my favorite NYC photos.
It would also be lovely to find such conditions along the Metro-North (former New York Central) Hudson Line with perhaps an Amtrak Empire Service train blasting out of swirling snow at twilight. Himmel! Just writing about it sparks up the enthusiasm levels. Well, perhaps I'll be lucky...
Meantime, here's hoping your Holiday Season will be both white, at least around Christmas Eve/Christmas Day...and festive!
      Alle guten Winterwünsche,
      Steve
